Funding Sources
Internal Funding
The majority of internal teaching and learning projects are funded by the Teaching and Learning Development Fund which funds both small projects covering one year or the University Teaching Fellowship Scheme which is for 3 years.

There are other internal funds which in some circumstances will fund teaching and learning projects - please check the criteria carefully and discuss your ideas with the fund's co-ordinators.
External Funding
There are a number of external funding bodies to which you can apply for teaching and learning research grants and details of these are explained in this section. CDoTL is happy to offer guidance and support to staff in the development of bids.
Annual Fund

The Annual Fund was established in 2004 to raise funds that will support current and future generations of students at the University. The Annual Fund is used to enhance the student experience through financial support, innovative teaching and learning projects, and extra-curricular activities. Applicants can apply for up to £10,000 for their project.

Internationalisation Initiatives Fund
To promote development in this area, the University has established the International Initiatives Fund to provide an additional funding resource for projects. The fund has been established by Professor Steve Mithen (PVC for International and External Engagement) Bids must be authorised by your Head of Department/School/Directorate, and must be submitted using a proforma which may be obtained from your Head of Department/School or from Sue Jones, PA to the PVC for International and External Engagement (s.w.jones@reading.ac.uk).
CDoTL are happy to work with anyone on a Teaching and Learning related bid, or to discuss your ideas.
UROP
For staff interested in research in teaching, UROP placements provide exciting opportunities for undergraduates to work with academic staff on University research projects, contributing directly to the creation of knowledge and strengthening the link between teaching and research. Placements last six weeks over the summer break, or can be part-time into the autumn term.
In 2012 UROP will be funding 48 placements with another 2 self/project funded placements also anticipated.
