Emergency Procedures, Checklist and Contact List
Silver Control Procedures
- Bronze Team Leaders request escalation to Silver
- Convene Silver team
- Choose most appropriate Emergency control room
- Nominate member to keep log
- Determine and activate additional Bronze teams as required
- Assume incident control, arrange first full meeting of Silver + Bronze leaders
- Be satisfied that evacuation,isolation, access control, containment etc is appropriate
- Assess situation and analyse impact to people & property
- Support all Bronze Team leaders
- Consider internal and external communications, assist Press Officer by drafting statements
- Consider reputation, costs, interruption time, recovery, compliance, & insurance implications
- Assess business continuity and recovery requirements against plans
- Assess need to escalate to Gold
Escalate to Gold if:
- Involves long term isolation and/or evacuation of part of a building
- Multiple serious injuries or deaths
- May threaten UoR financial, reputational or legal status
- Significant media interest is shown
- Incident has potential to escalate quickly into disaster
- Entire department or facility is compromised
- Surrounding residents or their property are severely impacted
- Major efforts required from UoR plus external Emergency Services
- Additional resources are required / need approval
Checklist
- Ensure adequate evacuation & access control
- Contain incident
- Maintain event log
- Analyse impact
- Communicate with Bronze Team Leaders
- Update Gold as required
- Define next steps to business continuity & recovery
