Embedding

life cycle 6 embedding_BCMA key stage of business continuity management is embedding it into the University’s culture. A successfully established programme will increase the resilience of the University, minimising the probability and impact of incidents. It will also increase the confidence of staff in dealing with such events and improve the reputation of the University from the point of view of students and the general public.

A number of measures are in place to embed BCM at the University:

      • A training programme for Silver and Bronze team leaders is underway with sessions being run to ensure that they are aware of the programme and their roles;
      • An ‘All staff Major Incident Plan’ has been produced, which is distributed to new starters when they attend the New Staff Induction;
      • Annual reviews of BIAs are taking place to ensure information is up to date and to remind key staff of the need to have a current Business Continuity plan;
      • The Business Continuity website will be updated periodically with relevant news regarding both the University and events that have affected other organisations.

Other initiatives will be used at times to improve awareness of Business Continuity Management at the University.
