UROP for Students

UROP gives students the chance to work on real research projects alongside academic researchers, contributing to the creation of knowledge. UROP placements last six weeks over the summer break and students will receive a bursary of £1,200 (tax free).

By undertaking a UROP you could:

  • Develop or boost your research skills just before you do your final year dissertation
  • Increase your awareness of the research in your field and of associated techniques
  • Gain employment skills and experience for your CV
  • Learn more about what academic careers are like while gaining skills that are useful for any career path
  • Work as a member of a team alongside University staff.

NB: You need to be a University of Reading student at the end of your penultimate year of undergraduate study
