Funding a UROP

Placement projects are developed by staff and applications welcome from any academic department in the University. Placements will be funded on the basis of the extent to which the project:

• provides a high impact learning opportunity for students in terms of the development of research skills & awareness, preferably providing authentic experience of a range of steps in the research process;
• makes a valuable contribution to the research of the supervisor and to University research in gneral.

Application dates for 2013 UROP placements will be announced in October 2012

To Apply:

1.   Download and print the GUIDANCE NOTES (see box on right).  These contain all the detail you need to apply.

2.   In consultation with the notes, complete the online UROP application form at 

https://www.reading.ac.uk/internal/urop2011/submit/ (In the event of technical difficulties please email urop@reading.ac.uk.

2011/12 Deadlines and Advertising Dates

UROP Scheme launched: Monday 10th October 2011

Deadline for Applications (Staff): Friday 25th November 2011, 5pm (no late submissions will be accepted). Applications must be complete with Head of School approval in order to be considered.

Funding Decisions Returned: Tuesday 3rd - Friday 6th January 2012

Placement Advertising: Monday 16th January to Friday 9th March 2012

Deadline for Selecting Students and Registering Placements: Friday 23rd March 2012

Deadline for Starting Placements: Friday 13th July 2012 (at the very latest)
