Applicants, students completing enrolment, and past students

If you are in the process of applying for postgraduate study using the University's online application form, you will be sent an email with a secure sign-on link as part of the email.  Please use that link to log into your application until you have submitted this.  Until then, we cannot confirm your ultimate student ID number.

If you have submitted an application to study at the University of Reading, or you are ready to arrive to begin your studies, or you have completed your studies and graduated, you will not have a University username.  This means that we make different arrangements for you.

If you are a new student, then once your records have been processed, you will receive an email to confirm how to log in.  Part of the process involves manual checking, and some overnight processes: if you have very recently applied, please wait at least three working days before contacting us for help.

The system is also set up to email you automatically if you have failed to log in three times.  We email you on the email address you gave as your personal email address.  If you are having problems with logging in, please check your email.  If you have applied to us through an agent, it is often your agent's email address which has been given, so the email will go to them. Please check your email before you contact us.

All students have to create a security password which protects records further.  This can always be found on the second screen of the login process.

         email us from the address you gave us (check for automated emails first!)

         quote your student number if you know it, but if not, your full name

         confirm your date of birth, using the name of the month, eg 3 March 1990

We can only reply to the email address we hold on the database: this protects your records.  We reply to emails on University working days: our helpdesk working hours are from 9.00 to 4.30, Monday to Friday, except on University closure days or on public holidays.  The front screen of the RISIS portal will normally warn of closures.
