How to access the RISIS database

Most staff members access RISIS over the web. However some staff with more specialist roles, such as admissions also have access to RISIS via their desktop, known as 'client server access'; this access is enabled only after attending one of our training sessions.  Access is also limited to those who are unable to use the portal to achieve the tasks which they need to be able to carry out as part of their daily role.

If you would like to have training on how to use the client server version of RISIS, please contact risis@reading.ac.uk to confirm that you will need this, and to ask for a place on the next available training session.  Once you have attended the beginners course you will need to contact risis@reading.ac.uk giving your username along with the hostname and IP address of your PC. To find your hostname and IP address goto: start>accessories>command prompt> and then type in "IPCONFIG/ALL"

A member of the RISIS office will then contact you to inform you once you are through the firewall. You will then need to map to the S drive.
