About Intermidia

This project focuses on cinema's nature as a mixture of arts and media in order to produce the first, groundbreaking intermedial history of Brazilian cinema. It will also explore the uses of intermediality as a historiographic method applicable to cinema as a whole.
Passages

Passages, a feature length film, showcases a selection of Brazilian films in which intermedial devices appear to function as a 'passage'.

Events

We are delighted to announce the ‘Contemporary Brazilian Music Film Season’, to take place at the Reading Film Theatre over a period of 10 weeks – 17 January to 23 March 2018. The Season will be held in combination with the Course ‘Brazilian Music and Film’, focusing on the ways in which these two media combine and cross-pollinate.

The IntermIdia research project has investigated cinema’s nature as a mixture of arts and media. It has aimed to produce the first intermedial history of Brazilian cinema and to explore intermediality as a historiographic method applicable to cinema as a whole. The project was a collaboration between the University of Reading and the Universidade Federal de São Carlos, funded by AHRC-FAPESP from October 2015 to July 2019. Although our funding has ended, our partnership will continue. Please explore the site to discover what we have found.
