Areas of Interest:

Amanda's area of expertise is English for Academic Purposes and her research interests relate specifically to Second Language Academic Writing and Online Language Learning.

She has a keen interest in the acculturation of overseas students, which informs her research tracking the progress of IFP students through their undergraduate studies. She has delivered papers on this topic at the University of Reading Teaching & Learning Conference (2008) and the BALEAP Tracking Project PIM (2012).

Amanda is one of the authors of the Transferable Academic Skills Kit, a series of published text books written by the staff of the ISLC.

Biographical details:
Amanda began her teaching career in France, teaching business professionals in the commercial sector before moving to the UK Higher Education sector, joining the University of Reading in 2004, first as a lecturer on the ISLC Pre-sessional language and study skills programme, then as Course Tutor to the International Foundation Programme.
