Dr Rachael Luck
Rachael lectures in Information and Communication and convenes the master's level Design Management module within SCME. She is a chartered architect with M.Sc. in Applied Informatics (Capgemini prize), and M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Construction Management, awarded by the University of Reading. Rachael is a member of the Editorial Board for the journal Design Studies.
Rachael's research involves video-based studies of social interaction in workplace settings where collaborative design activity takes place. Her research has been funded by awards from EPSRC, AHRC, ICRC and the RIBA and is undertaken in close collaboration with industry. Recent research has been in partnership with Atkins multi-disciplinary design practice and also with PARC Palo Alto Research Centre on the NSF funded project Studying Professional Software Designers, at the Department of Informatics, UCI Irvine. Previous involvements with the Design Thinking Research Symposium series lead to the publication of the book 'About Designing: analysing design meetings' by Taylor and Francis.
