Dr Ian Ewart
Having graduated and worked in industrial engineering for many years, Ian switched to academic anthropology in 2003, and specialised in Material Culture studies. Drawing on his past experiences he has sought to combine engineering with anthropology by investigating issues of technical production from a socio-cultural perspective. Fieldwork has taken him from iron-working in West Africa, to steam locomotives in the UK, and most recently house and bridge construction in the jungles of Borneo.
Ian's interests focus on the environmental and cultural relationships generated by people's engagement with the production and use of technical objects and systems. Ian joined the ICRC as a Research Fellow in January 2011, to complement the Centre's growing research expertise in ethnography.Email Mr Ian Ewart at: firstname.lastname@example.org
