Introduction:

This research aims to develop an understanding of how design activities are coordinated in construction contexts.  This will help us to examine ways in which some shared sense of a design situation is co-constructed amongst a multidisciplinary design team. The research focuses on the various ways that interactional actions and design practices feature in making this possible.

This research will complement and augment the EPSRC funded project Coordination and communication in construction design teams that is ongoing. The research will extend the data collection setting beyond the boundary of design team meetings, to more broadly engage and account for the design practices of a multi-disciplinary design team in their workplace settings.
