The use of technology in project-based firms
What is your research about?
In my current research I explore the use of technology in project-based firms. Using diffusion of innovations theory I am investigating the adoption and spread of information sharing and management technologies in order to help design and construction firms adapt to new digitally-enabled collaborative ways of working and practices. This research is supported by an EPSRC Case Studentship with Halcrow; one of the biggest design and construction firms in the UK.

Why did you choose the University of Reading for your PhD?
I have been at the University of Reading since 2006. I took my MSc degree in Construction Informatics in 2007, then after I joined the research team of Health Care Infrastructure Research and Innovation Centre (HaCIRIC). During my time with HaCIRIC I investigated briefing processes for health care buildings. At that time I started to develop interest in the work Jennifer Whyte is doing around digital practices in design and construction so decided to start my PhD at the end of 2009 under her supervision.
