Areas of Interest:

Cardiovascular disease, including heart failure and atherosclerosis, remains the most common cause of death in the Western world. In an effort to understand more clearly the cellular mechanisms that lead to heart failure and vascular disease, our laboratory is focussing on the mechanisms that control growth and proliferation of cardiovascular cells. Three main research areas currently are under investigation:

  • Intracellular controls of cardiac myocyte growth
  • Intracellular controls of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation
