Fees beyond the minimum registration period

If you have completed the minimum registration period for your doctoral research programme (as set out in the Code of Practice on Research Students), you will be required to pay one of the following fees:

  • the appropriate full-time fee – if you are continuing to receive supervision and using University facilities on a full-time basis
  • a Continuation Fee of £510 in 2016/17 – if you are continuing to receive supervision but you are no longer using University facilities.

If you submit your thesis before the first day of the second term, you will receive a pro-rata refund for that and any later terms of £170 per term (for 2016/17). No refunds will be made for submissions after the first day of the second term.

The University will have the discretion to decide the appropriate fee rate that will be applied after the minimum registration period has elapsed. This will be on the basis of information provided by the relevant academic School.
