Benefit from our partnerships and connections with the creative world

Our Department is highly connected with the creative world, giving you access to experience, expertise and career opportunities. You'll have the opportunity to develop relationships within our wider alumni network, which will prove invaluable in your future career.

"The practical experience I gained during my course was really beneficial.  It has helped me with how I now organise resource whilst working with clients. It taught me how to work as part of a group, whilst acting as a leader. My degree is not directly relevant to my career, but it certainly taught me skills that have made me successful in what I do."

Viki Mokrzycki, Strategic Account Manager at Huddle

Learning from alumni in the field

Some of the Department's former students who have since gone into film, theatre and television careers – or even set up their own companies – come back to help current students. They draw on the knowledge and experience they've gained, giving you an informed insight into real-world practice.

"We interviewed a handful of second- and third-year students from the University of Reading for a summer internship project to re-design our workplace and apply some fresh thinking to our business to reflect our values. These young females (note: no males applied) demonstrated incredible energy and communicaiton skills, along with bringing their artistic flair and ambition...One very specific thing I learnt about these students studying theatre/film and art is that they are typically quite high on extroversion and confidence. I hope we might learn a thing or two about this generation and talent coming through the ranks, especially as they spoke a lot about "how things feel" and "experiences" – this ticks our boxes straight away! Well done to the University of Reading!"
