Undergraduate Film, Theatre & Television degrees

Our flexible degrees will build your confidence and develop your practical skills. As well as studying a breadth of subjects and practices, you'll have the opportunity to specialise as the course goes on.

With first-hand guidance from leading academics and experienced professionals, our students learn what it takes to understand and create critically engaged work. Our degrees give you a rich and critically informed knowledge of the techniques that are shaping creative practice today. What you learn about is often what's on stages, screens and news reports right now, meaning you'll engage with contemporary issues such as conflict, migration and environmental politics.

BA Film & Theatre

This degree allows you to develop skills and knowledge specific to both film and theatre, and also to explore the important relationships and affinities between these two forms. You will encounter a wide variety of practical tasks and critical approaches, and have the opportunity to specialise according to your own interests and strengths.

BA Theatre

This degree helps you become a multi-skilled and critically informed theatre maker. Your studies will involve creating, collaborating, challenging and responding to contemporary issues and ideas, accompanied throughout the course by research into social, historical and industrial contexts.

BA Film

This degree allows you to focus your study on the medium of film, as well as offering the opportunity to engage with television and theatre. You will explore how meaning in film is made and impacted by different social, historical and industrial contexts. At the same time, you will also learn key practical skills and how to devise film and television productions.

Joint BA degrees with English Literature or Art

A joint degree is an excellent way to broaden your horizons. We collaborate extensively with both the Department of English Literature and Department of Art, and you will find that these subjects really complement the study of film, theatre and television.
