Staff Profile:Dr Leah Panos

Academic research for AHRC-funded project 'Spaces of Television: Production, Site & Style'.

Areas of Interest:

My research concerns the history of British television drama between 1955 and 1994, with a focus on the single play, authored and/or experimental drama from the 1960s to the 1980s. I explore the relationship between modes of production and TV style & aesthetics, using the combined methodologies of archival research, practitioner interview, and close textual analysis. My recent work has included articles on the use of Colour Separation Overlay in BBC single plays and the television texts of Howard Schuman. I am currently co-writing a book on Space and Place in 1970s Television Studio Drama for Palgrave Macmillan's 'Close Readings in Film and Television' series.
