7 April 1997: REGISTRATION - Amendment to Food Premises Registration Regulations

7 April 1997 (Extract from MAFF Food Safety Bulletin, May 1997)

Amendment to Food Premises Registration Regulations

The Food Premises (Registration) Amendment Regulations 1997 came into force on 7 April. They exempt people who prepare food at home for sale from a market stall run by the WI Country Markets Ltd. from the requirements to register their homes as a food business.

This measure simply removes an unnecessary requirement. It does not affect public health protection as WI Markets, where the food is sold, must themselves be registered under the Food Premises (Registration) Regulations 1991. Producers of food for these Markets remain subject to food hygiene regulations and are liable to inspection by Environmental Health Officers.
