27 March 1997: INFANT FORMULA/FOLLOW-ON FORMULAE - Amendment Regulations published

MAFF Letter, 27 March 1997

Infant Formula and Follow-on Formula (Amendment) Regulations

The MAFF letter is to announce the making of the Infant Formula and Follow-on Formula (Amendment) Regulations 1997 (Statutory Instrument 1997, No 451). They entered into force on the 31 March 1997. For details of the consultation letter, see
30 July 1996.

They amend the Infant Formula and Follow-on Formula Regulations 1995 (SI 1995/77) which implemented inter alia Commission Directive 91/321/EEC on infant formulae and follow-on formulae, so as to take account of amendments made to that Directive by Commission Directive 96/4/EC. The Regulations contain a transitional provision which provides that it is not an offence, before 31 March 1999, to sell or export infant formulae or follow-on formulae which do not comply with 1995/77 as amended but which do comply with their provisions before amendment.
