I am writing to invite views on proposals for the updated Condensed Milk and Dried Milk (England) Regulations 2013 and the Caseins and Caseinates (England) Regulations 2013

Scope of this consultation

Defra is seeking views on the above Regulations which will consolidate existing regulations and replace criminal sanctions with civil sanctions. The purpose is to streamline existing regulations by reducing the number of statutory instruments and to bring the enforcement regime in-line with other similar regulations for food as part of the ‘Red Tape Challenge’.

Following consultation, new domestic regulations; The Condensed Milk and Dried Milk (England) Regulations 2013 will be laid before Parliament at the end of 2013 and will revoke and replace the following two SIs:

The Caseins and Caseinates (England) Regulations 2013 will replace the following two SIs:

The new domestic regulations will apply in England. Governments in other parts of the UK (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) will be making their own separate implementing regulations.

This consultation started on 18th December 2012 and all responses should be received by 29th January 2013.
