FRUIT JUICE - Consultation: The draft Fruit Juices and Fruit Nectars (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2011

A copy of the consultation document is available on this site.  See: Defra Consultation – Fruit Juice Amendments

Summary

These Regulations will introduce minimum Brix levels for fruit juices from concentrate. Brix values provide a measure of quality by setting minimum soluble solids (sugar content) for fruit juices. These Regulations will also make a small linguistic change in relation to mixed juice products containing fruit juices and fruit juices from concentrates, which will help to alleviate translational difficulties across EU Member States. The draft Regulations can be found at Annexe A and the Impact Assessment to accompany these Regulations can be found at Annexe B.

These Regulations will apply in England only. Separate consultations are taking place on equivalent draft Regulations in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. These can be found at: http://www.food.gov.uk/consultations.

Defra invites the views of all stakeholders who will be affected by these amending Regulations.
