The Food Standards Agency has today published its response to the report into a fatal E.coli outbreak in Wales in 2005 for discussion by the Agency’s Board.
The outbreak, which claimed the life of five-year-old Mason Jones, was investigated by an independent inquiry led by Professor Hugh Pennington. His report set out key recommendations for changes to how food businesses are regulated to improve protection for the public.
In a paper published today and for consideration by the Agency’s board next week, the Agency sets out the improvements in food hygiene already achieved in the wake of the outbreak. It also details the further measures the Agency intends to take to ensure the recommendations for the Agency made by Professor Pennington are fully met.
