OFFICIAL CONTROL - Ninth update on applying EU feed and food controls regulation

An update on the progress since January 2007 on the measures being taken to apply EU Regulation 882/2004 on official controls in the UK has been published by the Agency.

The eighth update in January 2007 highlighted that discussions at EU level on implementing rules on import controls of feed and food of non-animal origin imported from non-European Union countries and, in particular, those which represent a known or emerging risk (“high-risk”) were underway. This note provides an update on developments since then.

Implementing rules for import controls for 'high-risk' non-animal origin feed and food

On 1 March 2007, the Agency launched a full public consultation on the above proposed implementing rules. The consultation can be found at the link below.

We wrote to interested parties on 11 April 2007 to update them on the on-going EU level discussions and to seek any further comments that stakeholders may have on the latest version of the Commission's draft Working Document. The next EU level meeting is scheduled for 7 May so any responses are requested by 3 May 2007.
