FOOD POISONING - FSA Wales response to E.coli report

The Food Standards Agency welcomes the Chief Medical Officer's (CMO) report into last year's E.coli outbreak.

The recommendations in the report for the Agency will all be addressed and, indeed, in many cases raise issues the Agency itself has already identified for action.

Like the CMO, the Agency is aware that police investigations are continuing and a wider inquiry to be led by Professor Hugh Pennington is still ahead.

Government, public health agencies, local authorities and the food industry itself all have a responsibility to act on and learn lessons from an incident that caused tragedy and pain to many people.
