RECALL - Product Recall of Cow & Gate Cheese and Tomato Bake Packet Meal

Heads of Environmental Health and Directors of Trading Standards will wish to be aware of a product recall by Cow & Gate Ltd of the Cow & Gate brand Cheese & Tomato Bake dried baby meal, 125g packet, due to contamination of the batch with a best before date of 25/03/05 with mouse droppings.

Microbiological examination has been carried out by the company, of both contaminated and uncontaminated product, and they have indicated that all samples tested are within their microbiological tolerances. The product recall relates to a single batch with a best before date of 25/03/05. No other Cow & Gate products are known to be affected. This batch has only been sold through Boots and Sainsbury's stores.

Cow & Gate Ltd has issued a product recall notice (see below) which should appear in national newspapers on the 2nd of December 2003. Point of sale notices will also be placed in Boots and Sainsburys stores.

Cow & Gate regret to announce the recall of one batch of Cheese & Tomato Bake packet meal from 4 months with the best before date of 25/03/05. No other Cow & Gate products are affected.

We have received a small number of complaints about the presence of foreign matter and have decided to withdraw the product as a precautionary measure as it does not meet our high standards.

Safety tests have confirmed that this product will not cause any ill effects if consumed.

This batch was only available in Boots and Sainsbury's.

What you should do

If you have any packs of this product with this best before date, please dispose of the contents. For a full refund including postage, please return the pack top showing the best before date together with your name and address to:
