FSA News Item, 18 November 2002
Food Standards Agency Chief Executive Geoffrey Podger informed the Agency's Board on 14 November 2002 that, contrary to reports in the press, the Agency had not called for catering outlets and restaurants to list the calorie contents of their dishes.
Denials had been issued by the Agency each time such inaccurate stories had
appeared, Mr Podger said.
People are entitled to information when they eat out, he explained. But this
should be practicable and meaningful and offer consumers real choices.
