RECALL - Agency Acts to Recall Contaminated Sports Drink

The Food Standards Agency has taken action to ensure the recall of batches of Umbro Hypotonic Sports Drink (manufactured under licence by GoPack SuperDrinks ltd), which may be contaminated with Penicillium and Cladosporium mould.

The drink, which comes in 500ml blue plastic sports bottles, has been distributed to a number of wholesalers in the UK and may have been supplied to retail outlets.

Local authorities are visiting the wholesalers in question to ensure the affected batches are withdrawn. In addition, the wholesalers are recalling the product from any retail outlets which they have supplied.

The affected bottles carry a batch number between 0120#### and 0208#### on the cap and have a best before date of June 2001 or July 2001. In addition, they have no foil seal across the neck of the bottle.

Anyone who has purchased this product without a foil seal and carrying a batch number and best before date as outlined above should dispose of the product or return it to the retail outlet where they purchased it (bottles which have a foil seal are not affected).
