Codex Committee on Fish and Fishery Products (25th Session)
The summary and conclusions of the 25th Session of the Codex Committee on Fish and
Fishery Products are as follows:
Matters for adoption by the Commission:
The Committee:
- advanced to Step 8 the Draft Standard for Dried Salted Anchovies;
- advanced the Draft sections in the Code of Practice for Fish and Fishery Products (general aspects; fresh/frozen/minced fish; and canned fish) to Step 8; advanced the section on frozen surimi to Steps 5/8; and returned the Proposed Draft Sections (other sections) to Step 3 for further comments;
- advanced to Step 5 the Proposed Draft Model Certificate for Fish and Fishery Products
- (sanitary certificate);
- advanced to Step 5 the Proposed Draft Amendment to the Standard for Quick Frozen
- Lobsters;
- agreed to initiate new work on a 1) a Proposed Draft Amendment to the Standard for
- Salted Fish and Dried Salted Fish of the Gadidae Family; and 2) on the elaboration of a Standard for Sturgeon Caviar.
Other matters of interest to the Commission:
The Committee:
- agreed to return to Step 6 the Draft Standard for Salted Atlantic Herring and Salted Sprats;
- agreed to return to Step 3 the Proposed Draft Standard for Live and Processed Bivalve Molluscs;
- agreed to return to Step 3 the Proposed Draft Standard for Quick Frozen Scallop Adductor Muscle Meat;
- agreed to return to Step 3 the Proposed Draft Model Certificates for Fish and Fishery Products (other certificates);
- agreed to consider the Proposed Draft Standard for Smoked Fish at its next session;
- agreed to consider further at its next session discussion papers on the following subjects: 1) the review of the procedure for the inclusion of additional species; and 2) fish content in fish sticks (in conjunction with the Draft Amendment to the Standard for Quick Frozen Fish Sticks at Step 7).
