Imports of Rabbit Meat and Farmed Game Meat - Extension of Time Limit

The Commission has adopted the following:
Commission Decision (98/556) of 30 September 1998 amending Commission Decision 97/467/EC drawing up provisional lists of third country establishments from which the Member States authorise imports of rabbit meat and farmed game meat.

Decision 97/467 provides conditions to be met for various imported meat products. It does not however yet specify requirements of ratite meat (from ostrich, emu, kiwi) and allows Member States to authorise establishments. This provision however was due to expire on 1 October 1998. Additional time is neede ‘to allow for adoption of harmonised legislation proposed for presea=ntation to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) for observations’. The date is therefore extended until 1 Ocotber 1999 by this amendment.
