The Council has approved an amendment to Regulation (EC) n° 1906/90 on certain marketing standards for poultry meat. Given the fact that poultry meat is being increasingly marketed in the form of pieces of poultry, the amendment extends the checking of the water content absorbed during preparation of meat, up to now limited to carcases only, to pieces of poultry as well.
