UK Response to Commission Consultation on Simplification of Hygiene Directives
The Government has submitted a formal response to the Commission consultation on the consolidation and simplification of animal and public health (hygiene) directives. A copy has been circulated to interested parties. For details of the consultation document, see 20 February 1997
The letter comments that the Ministry is strongly supportive of this Commission initiative and believes there is scope for simplification of the hygiene directives while maintaining the overall level of public health protection.
The comments cover both general observations and more detailed comments.
