ADDITIVES – Council discussions: Approval of silicon dioxide as food additive in extracts of rosemary

The following is an extract from the minutes of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council meeting held on the 19 June 2015:

The Council decided not to oppose the adoption of a Commission regulation authorising the use of of silicon dioxide (E 551) as an anti-caking agent in extracts of rosemary (E 392) (8814/15).

The Commission regulation is subject to the so called regulatory procedure with scrutiny. This means that now that the Council has given its consent, the Commission may adopt it, unless the European Parliament objects.
