FLAVOURINGS / SUPPLEMENTS - Council discussions: Food flavourings and supplements
The following is an extract from the Economic and Financial Affairs Council meeting:
The Council decided not to oppose adoption by the Commission of the following two regulations:
- a regulation removing 19 substances from the EU list of flavourings and source materials for use in food, following the withdrawal of applications by the persons responsible for placing the flavouring substances on the market (17257/13);
- a regulation establishing a maximum level of 2 mg/kg for citrinin in red yeast rice preparations (16792/13).
The regulations are subject to the regulatory procedure with scrutiny. The Commission may now adopt them, unless the European Parliament objects.
