HEALTH CLAIMS - Draft Commission Regulation setting the rules for applications for authorisations of generic descriptors

At the 12 June meeting of the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health, the Commission presented a new version of a draft Regulation setting the rules for authorisations of generic descriptors (see link below).

A large part of the discussion was devoted to considering the length of time that a term would need to have been on the market before it could be considered for authorisation of a generic descriptor (Section B, paragraph 1.5) and the information / evidence that applicants might be required to supply in an application (Section B, paragraph 2). I would be grateful for your comments on these and other elements of the document by Monday 1 July

A copy of the Draft Regulation is available on this site. See: Draft COMMISSION REGULATION setting the rules for applications concerning the use of generic descriptors (denominations)
