IMPORTS - Regulation (EC) No 669/2009 (as amended) implementing Regulation (EC) No 882/2004 as regards the increased level of official controls on imports of certain feed and food of non-animal origin (Non-POAO)

Following the second quarterly review of Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 669/2009, I wrote to you on 28 September [see 28 September 2010] and 20 October 2010 [see 20 October 2010]. I am now writing to inform you that Regulation (EU) 1099/2010 amending Annex I, which will come into force on 1 January 2011, has been published in the Official Journal of European Union and is available at: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2010:312:0009:0013:EN:PDF

The main changes to the list of products at Annex I, to which increased import controls will apply from 1 January 2011 are:

• frequency of physical checks for groundnuts and derived products from Brazil to be reduced from 50% to 10%;
• frequency of physical checks (trace elements) for feed and food from China to be reduced from 50% to 10%;
• frequency of physical checks for mangoes from the Dominican Republic to be reduced from 50% to 10%;
• chilli products (curry) from India to be included in the products subject to physical checks at 50% and
• frequency of physical checks for groundnuts (and products) from India to be increased from 10% to 20%;
• providing for the use of multi-residue test methods to test for pesticide residues in certain vegetables from Turkey.
