The Council approved a Directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to food supplements, as amended by the European Parliament; which is thereby deemed to have been adopted by the Council and the European Parliament. This Directive is aimed at maintaining both a high level of public health protection and the free circulation of products concerned by ensuring that food supplements are safe and bear adequate and appropriate labelling.
