NATURAL MINERAL WATER - Standing Committee on Foodstuffs - Limits for the levels and the labelling of constituents of natural mineral waters and conditions of use of the treatment with ozone

A draft Commission Directive was tabled for discussion. There was broad support, both for the proposed limits for the levels of constituents and for the conditions of use of the treatment with ozone. However, several Member States requested that a maximum limit be fixed for the fluor content and suggested that the limit be fixed at 3 to 5 mg/l.

The Standing Committee agreed to set up an expert working group, which would consider a new draft to be prepared by the Commission.
