The Food Standards Agency welcomes stakeholders’ views on the proposed update of The Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2018 (“the proposed Regulations”). This amendment will replace the Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (England) Regulations 2012 (“the 2012 Regulations”).

About this consultation

Who will this consultation be of most interest to?

Businesses that manufacture, import, wholesale or retail, plastic and /or recycled plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food; and/or food contact varnishes and coatings.

Port health and local enforcement authorities, consumers and other interested stakeholders who may have an interest in the policy and legislation on food contact materials.

What is the subject of this consultation?

The latest amendment will provide enforcement authorities with the necessary powers for the execution and enforcement of the provisions of three European Regulations.
