LEGISLATION - Food and Feed Law: legislation review (October to December 2015)

For a copy of the review available on this site, see: Food and Feed Law: legislation review (October to December 2015)

This is the fifth in a series of quarterly reports that will provide regular updates on developments in food and feed law and related scientific and regulatory issues.

This report contains information on a referee case involving a sample of paprika alleged to contain almond, which is a risk for people with almond allergy and the modernisation of European law on novel foods. The regulations were updated to control novel food containing nanomaterials, cloned animals, insects, food with a new or intentionally modified molecular structure, food from cell culture or tissue culture, and food from material of mineral origin. The report also contains updates on legislation covering contaminants, including ergot and dioxins; changes to maximum residue levels for some pesticides and veterinary medicinal products; and updates on the standards for grades of olive oil.
