PDO, PGI and TSG Symbols

The EU adopted a system for recognising products as having special characteristics based on their origins or traditional manufacturing methods. As a Member State, the UK participated in the scheme and various UK products gained recognition. As the UK is no longer a Member State, the schemes have been adapted as UK schemes.

The 3 schemes provide for 'Protected Designation of Origin', 'Protected Geographical Indication', or ‘Traditional Speciality Guaranteed’. Recognised products may used special symbols on their labels to alert consumers to the recognition. Given below are the appropriate logos (both the new UK versions and the original EU versions) for use with the designated product name.
