Name and address

One of the mandatory requirements is for the label to state:

.. the name or business name and address of the food business operator referred to in Article 8(1);

Article 9(1)(h)

This makes reference to the 'food business operator' (FBO) as mentioned in Article 8(1). This states:

The food business operator responsible for the food information shall be the operator under whose name or business name the food is marketed or, if that operator is not established in the British Isles, the importer into the British Islands.

Article 8(1)

So all foods must have the name and address of either:

(a) the food business operator (FBO) marketing the product where the FBO is established in the British Isles, or
(b) the importer responsible for bringing the product into the British Islands.

There must therefore be an address within Britain which enables the consumer (or an enforcement authority) to follow-up any problems with the product or its label.
