Extract from Codex Report - Africa Committee (15th Session, November 2002):

The Delegation of Liberia reported that food safety was a major concern of the government and that the government was doing everything possible to ensure that the people have access to safe food. As regard, food control activities, the Ministries of Agriculture, Commerce, and Health are handling food control activities. We put in place, a technical inter-ministerial committee to ensure that food available is fit for consumption. The Codex Contact Point has been located with the ministry of Commerce - Standards Division, but it is weak and there is a strong desire amongst its members to make it more active.
