Entry requirements

Our MSc courses are challenging and practical, demanding a good grasp of science; therefore, we seek to recruit highly motivated, well-qualified and able students who have already demonstrated an ability to understand scientific concepts at degree level. We expect applicants to have at least an upper second class Honours degree in a pure or applied science, or an equivalent qualification. For our MSc Nutrition and Food Science course we like to see some evidence of previous studies in chemistry and/or biological sciences.

With many of our applications coming from international students, we take great care in trying to ensure that our potential students can meet the academic challenge of our courses. We are prepared to consider a wide range of qualifications but must ensure that they are equivalent to our requirements.

Applications are welcome from professionals who wish to upgrade their qualifications and improve their career prospects. Relevant professional experience will be assessed and can be used to demonstrate ability where your original degree may not, on its own, meet our requirements.

Please contact us for an initial opinion if you are uncertain whether to submit a full application.

International applicants whose previous education has not been in English, have to meet an English language requirement - usually an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 6.5. Access to adequate funding must also be demonstrated.
