26-27 July 2021

Are you a young scientist who is thinking about a career in food?

Come and join us for a virtual Summer School on 26-27 July. This popular course is supported and sponsored by manufacturing and retail companies in the food industry.

You will be baking bread rolls within your kitchen, whilst hearing from our lecturers on topics such as "Sourdough Science" and "Unpicking the ingredients of a loaf of bread". You'll be transformed into food tasters, assessing your bread rolls according to their colour, texture and flavour – just like we would in the food industry.

There will also be ample opportunity to ask our students and Admissions Tutor, Dr Maria Jose Oruna-Concha, all your questions about the course or student life. You'll also hear from our graduates who work for various food companies.

The Food and Nutritional Sciences Summer School aims to give young scientists an idea of how exciting our courses really are. The taster course has been held at the University of Reading since 1987 and has proved extremely popular, inspiring many students to go on to study food and nutritional sciences at university and later to go on to a career in the food industry.
