Network Launch - 13th November 2001
The EPSRC EQUAL Research Network and the Fourth Call for Proposals to the EPSRC EQUAL initiative was launched on 13th November 2001 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham.
The event provided a valuable insight into the EQUAL initiative, the work of the research teams, and how EPSRC intends to build on the early successes of its EQUAL initiative. Researchers, industrialists, representatives of voluntary and charitable organisations and of government, and individuals from many other walks of life attended.
The Network will provide the basis for developing a stronger national community of researchers and research users with an interest in the contribution of engineering, design and physical science research to meeting the needs of older people and disabled people.
The Call invites proposals for collaboration between university groups and intermediary organisations, such as industry, health service providers, voluntary bodies, charities and local government organisations and which will also involve older people and disabled people. EPSRC will outline significant changes in the way in which proposals will be handled.
