This is a special workshop to explore recent advances in approaches to improving the quality of life of older people and disabled people, especially those who are very frail or have dementia. The workshop will be of interest to health care practitioners, charitable and government bodies concerned with older and disabled people, planners, and industry as well as researchers and academics from engineering, social sciences, medical and health care disciplines.

There is no charge for attendance just an enthusiasm and interest in extending the quality of life of older people and disabled people through informed user-focused multidisciplinary research and its application.

Travel :

Travelling to Loughborough University

Loughborough is at the heart of England in the northern most part of the county of Leicestershire and being centrally placed it is well served by road, rail and air.

Main line road and rail networks link Loughborough directly with the rest of the country and the town itself is served by excellent bus services. Loughborough University is less than 2 miles away from junction 23 of the
M1motorway.

London is one-and-a-half hours away by train, Birmingham one hour and Manchester and Leeds two hours. Regular Intercity services operate between Loughborough and other main line towns. Once at Loughborough's railway station you are just ten minutes away from the campus. There is a regular bus service which operates every twenty minutes. Taxis are normally available from the station. The journey to the university takes approximately 10 minutes and should cost around £4.

There are regular scheduled flights from UK, European and international destinations to East Midlands Airport 4, only 7 miles away.

There is ample parking on the opposite side of this road (beware of builders' lorries), and the entrance to Ann Packer building faces the road. Room JJ004 is on the ground floor and will be signposted on the day.

Disabled vehicle parking - a space can be reserved on the small car park to the side of the building. If you do require this, let us know and we'll organise it with security.
