- My primary research interest is Eighteenth Century Literature. I have also developed a research interest in those areas in which I teach, particularly crime fiction. I continue to have a strong interest in religion and literature.

Recent publications reflect my interests and include:
Biblical Religion and the Novel (edited, 2006), and an essay on
Chesterton's Father Brown stories and on Graham Greene's images of the
church. I am now working on a book about Richard Dawkins and the response
of contemporary Christianity.I have also published
