In late 2018, we caught up with an alumna of 2017

Natalie Warner

Natalie WarnerNatalie graduated with a degree in English Literature in 2017. Now engaged in a new career, Natalie tells us what she's been doing, of the eventful year she has had and how her time at Reading helped her along the way.

What did you do after you graduated?

"I travelled for a few months then came back and became an Administrator at a GP Surgery. I then worked at the GP surgery part time and worked part time at Kier Construction as a Corporate Social Responsibility Co-ordinator and Bid Writer Assistant."

How did you get involved with Kier Construction?

"I originally did a paid placement at Kier Construction in the summer of 2016 as a bid writer. From this I was able to network and it was how I got my part time assistant job. I got this placement as part of my Professional Track award."

Did your degree help with this?

"My degree gave me great skills in communication and organisation which I have carried into my job. The ability to give presentations, write reports and newsletters has been extremely useful. My persuasive writing module has proved especially useful in understanding what words to use in certain circumstances."

 What are you doing now?

"I am now in a permanent role as a Regional Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator at Kier Construction. I do this for our Southern Region, which covers Kent, Sussex and Hampshire. I really enjoy this role as it is varied. It mixes PR, Events, Marketing and other sectors together. I feel like my job makes a real impact on the environment, communities and those it touches which makes it very rewarding."
