Foundation Degree in Children's Development and Learning
This Foundation Degree (FD) provides a model of vocational higher education based on close collaboration between employers and providers of higher education. The course will furnish candidates with the knowledge, skills and understanding to progress in their chosen career within related childcare or education settings. Many students will become Early Years Professionals or Higher Level Teaching Assistants as a result of this programme. It provides an appropriate base for progression to honours and Qualified Teacher Status, if required.
This programme is run in collaboration with Berkshire College of Agriculture, Bracknell and Wokingham College and Newbury College. From 2011, this programme is being delivered in a newly updated format, which reflects developments in the children's workforce and provides new opportunities for students to join us in each college.
All three partner colleges will offer the same programme, over a two year study period. The Foundation Degree award is validated as a Level 5 award.
Work-based learning is central to the degree and students undertaking the programme will need to be working in an early years/educational setting (0-11 years).
Attendance
Learners will study for this programme whilst remaining in employment. College attendance will be one day (or afternoon/evening) a week.
